Van Impe's Love Affair with Rome

We've written before about the increasing ecumenical stance of Jack Van Impe. On his Sept 4, 2004 television broadcast for example he praised moderate Muslims and implied that they were not so different from evangelical Christians.

Now Van Impe is leading his viewers into bondage with Roman Catholicism. In the name of Christian unity he ignores the idolatrous practices of this wicked false religion and proclaims it compatible with biblical Christianity.

It is clear that either Van Impe has erred from the faith or he was never the born again Christian that he claimed to be.

It is sobering to think that a man who has so much scripture committed to memory could be so devoid of the truth. This is actually an example of God's word come to life for us today.

During Jesus earthly ministry he confronted men like Jack Van Impe. These men were the religious leaders of the day. They knew God's word by heart just like Van Impe does. The Pharisees and Sadducees were held in high esteem by the masses just like the leaders of today’s religious establishment are held in high regard by the average church member. Yet Jesus told these men that they were sons of the devil.

Just like Van Impe, they knew the scriptures but they didn't know the truth. That is because the truth is spiritually discerned. You can know every scripture in the bible but unless God reveals to you the truth, you will die in your sins and spend eternity in hell.

As we draw closer to the coming of the Lord Jesus for His church we will see more and more religious leaders exposed as hypocrites and liars. The truth divides. Jesus said in Matthew 10 that He came not to bring peace but a sword. That sword is the word of God. Those who hold fast to the word will be separated from those who don't, regardless of who they are or what positions they hold within the church.

Pray for Jack Van Impe and those who would be deceived by his false teaching. Pray that God would yet grant him repentance and that he might be freed from the snare of the devil who has taken him captive.
